Old version of the platform stuck in the browser in Match-Trader

The platform behaves oddly after the firm announces an update, or shows a layout or feature set that no longer matches their instructions.

What is causing it

Your browser is still serving cached files from an earlier version, so old code is running against a newer service.

Why this happens

Web platforms are delivered as files the browser stores so the platform loads quickly next time. When the firm ships an update, most browsers pick it up, but a partially cached copy can leave the browser running a mix of old and new code, which produces strange, hard-to-describe behaviour rather than a clean error.

The fix, step by step

  1. Do a hard reload of the page, which fetches fresh files rather than reusing cached ones.
  2. If that does not help, clear the cached files for this site specifically rather than clearing everything, then log in again.
  3. Open the platform in a private window as a quick test. If it behaves correctly there, cached files were the cause.
  4. Log out and back in afterwards, since clearing site data usually ends your session too.
  5. Be aware that clearing site data can also remove saved layouts and preferences stored in the browser.
  6. If a fresh private window is also wrong, the problem is not your cache and is worth reporting to the firm.

How to confirm it is fixed

The platform matches what the firm's current instructions and announcements describe, and the odd behaviour is gone after a hard reload.

Stopping it happening again

Reload the platform at the start of each trading day, and reload it after any update announcement from the firm.
