Trading works normally, then for a few minutes around a scheduled release everything is refused, then it works again.
A news-trading restriction configured by the firm, which blocks new positions in a window either side of listed high-impact events.
News windows are enforced by the same risk layer as loss limits, so a blocked news trade is refused instantly and looks like a technical failure. The tell is timing: it starts and ends at predictable moments around a scheduled release and behaves perfectly in between.
Firms differ considerably here, including whether a trade opened before the window may be held through it, so this is one rule worth confirming in writing rather than assuming.
Orders are accepted normally once the published window has passed, with no other change.
Keep the firm's own event calendar open, in your own time zone, and treat the restricted windows as no-trade periods in your plan.
