Prices frozen after the tab was in the background in TradeLocker

You return to the tab and prices sit still, then jump suddenly to a very different level.

What is causing it

The browser throttled or suspended the background tab, so the platform stopped receiving updates while you were away.

Why this happens

Browsers deliberately slow or freeze tabs that are not visible to save battery, and operating systems suspend everything on sleep. A web trading platform is subject to both. When it wakes it reconnects and catches up, and the jump you see is the market moving during the gap, not a data error.

The fix, step by step

  1. Wait for prices to tick before acting. Anything on screen after a long absence should be treated as stale.
  2. Reload the page after any long period in the background rather than trusting the drawn values.
  3. Keep the trading tab in its own visible window instead of hidden behind other tabs.
  4. Turn off memory or energy saving for this site in your browser's performance settings if a per-site exception is available.
  5. Prevent the computer sleeping while positions are open, using your operating system's power settings.
  6. Use resting orders rather than screen-watching for anything you cannot afford to miss.

How to confirm it is fixed

Leave the tab in the background for a few minutes, return, and confirm prices begin ticking within a second or two.

Stopping it happening again

Give the platform its own always-visible window, keep the machine awake, and never trade from a price that has not ticked since you came back.
