Logged out with a position open in DXtrade

The platform drops you back to the login screen without warning, sometimes while a trade is running.

What is causing it

A session timeout, a second login elsewhere, or a dropped connection. The position itself is unaffected by your session ending.

Why this happens

Your session is only your right to view and command the account. Orders, positions, stops and targets live on the firm's servers and keep working when your browser does not. This is good news during an outage, but it also means a stop you intended to place, and did not, does not exist anywhere.

Short session lifetimes are a security decision by the firm rather than a bug, and they are common on funded accounts.

The fix, step by step

  1. Log back in immediately and check the positions list. Your position is held on the firm's servers and continues to exist whether or not you are logged in.
  2. Confirm your stop loss and take profit are still attached and at the levels you set. If you were relying on watching the screen instead, set protective orders now.
  3. Check whether you are logged into the same account elsewhere, such as the mobile app or a second browser. Some deployments end the older session when a new one starts.
  4. Ask your firm how long an idle session lasts. Sessions on prop deployments are often deliberately short.
  5. If it happens repeatedly within minutes, test the platform on a different network, such as a phone hotspot, to rule out your own connection or a corporate firewall.
  6. Do not rely on being logged in for risk control. Use resting stop orders so a lost session cannot turn into an uncontrolled loss.

How to confirm it is fixed

After logging back in, the open position shows the same size, entry price and attached orders as before the disconnect.

Stopping it happening again

Attach a stop loss at the moment you enter, not afterwards. Keep the platform in a browser window you do not close, and avoid running the same account in two places at once.
