cTrader closes or crashes when you open it.
A corrupt cache, an outdated version, or a missing framework.
cTrader is a Windows desktop application built on the .NET platform, so it depends on a runtime being installed and intact. If that runtime is missing, or was damaged by a partial update, the application cannot start and closes immediately rather than showing a useful error. This is why a crash can appear straight after a Windows update, with nothing having changed in cTrader itself.
The application also caches settings, workspaces and data locally between sessions. It reads that cache at startup, so a file corrupted by an unclean shutdown, a full disk or an interrupted update can cause a crash before the interface appears. That is why clearing the cache resolves a crash that reinstalling alone sometimes does not: a reinstall replaces the program but can leave the cache in place.
The application should open to the login or account screen and stay open through a full session, including opening charts and switching workspaces. If cTrader Web works while the desktop application crashes, that confirms your account and connection are fine and the problem is local to the installation.
Keep Windows and the .NET runtime updated, and install cTrader from your broker so you receive the build they support. Close the application properly rather than forcing it or shutting the machine down with it running, since unclean exits are what corrupt the cache. Keep enough free disk space for it to write its cache and logs.
