A pip is the smallest standard price move in a currency pair, normally the fourth decimal place (0.0001), or the second decimal (0.01) on JPY pairs. Pip value is how much money one pip is worth for your position, and it drives your risk, your stop loss in dollars, and your position sizing.
Pip value = pip value per standard lot × your lot size. On a USD-quoted pair like EUR/USD, one standard lot is worth about $10 per pip, a mini lot (0.10) about $1, and a micro lot (0.01) about $0.10. Gold, indices and JPY pairs differ, so pick the instrument to auto-fill the correct figure.
| Standard lot (1.00) | ~$10 per pip on USD-quoted forex |
| Mini lot (0.10) | ~$1 per pip |
| Micro lot (0.01) | ~$0.10 per pip |

Start free trialOn most USD-quoted forex pairs, one pip is worth about $10 per standard lot, $1 per mini lot and $0.10 per micro lot. On JPY pairs, gold and indices the value differs, which is why this calculator lets you select the instrument.
Multiply the pip value per standard lot by your lot size. For 0.5 lots of EUR/USD that is $10 x 0.5 = $5 per pip.
For gold, a common convention is that a 0.10 move (one pip) on a standard lot of 100 ounces is worth about $10. Always confirm the contract size with your broker as some quote gold differently.
