Platform slow or using heavy resources in Quantower

Panels stutter, charts lag behind the market, and the machine works hard during active sessions.

What is causing it

Too many panels and charts open, too much history loaded, heavy indicators, or several connections streaming data simultaneously.

Why this happens

Every open connection is an active data stream and every chart holds and recalculates its own data. Running several brokers at once multiplies the streaming work, which is the cost of the flexibility that makes multiple connections useful.

Trimming loaded history usually gives the largest single improvement, because indicator cost scales with the size of the data set.

The fix, step by step

  1. Reduce the number of open charts and panels, especially duplicates of the same instrument on different connections.
  2. Reduce how much history each chart loads, since this drives both memory use and indicator recalculation.
  3. Disconnect connections you are not using, as each one streams data and consumes resources whether or not you are watching it.
  4. Reduce the number of indicators per chart, particularly those recalculating over the full history on every update.
  5. Be aware that tick-based and volume-based charts are much heavier than time-based ones because they process every trade.
  6. Keep a lean workspace for live trading and a separate heavier one for research.

How to confirm it is fixed

Panels and charts stay responsive through the busiest part of the session with your full trading workspace open.

Stopping it happening again

Connect only what you need for the session, and keep the trading workspace deliberately small.
