What it can do
How the score breaks down
Each dimension is explained on the methodology page.
Where it is strong and where it is not
- No single key can move the funds
- Full audit trail of who approved what
- Recover access if one signer is lost
- The most battle tested smart contract wallet there is
- Costs more gas than a normal wallet
- Setup is a real project, not a five minute job
- Deployed per chain, so the same address elsewhere is not automatically yours
Incident history
The Bybit theft of around 1.4 billion dollars involved manipulating what signers saw before approving a Safe transaction. The Safe contracts were not exploited. It is the clearest possible lesson that multisig only protects you if the signers verify what they are signing.
Reputation and reviews
A reputation score out of 100, kept separate from the feature score above. It reflects what users actually report over time rather than a star rating scraped on one day.
The standard for treasuries and serious holdings. Note carefully that the 2025 Bybit theft involved a compromised signing workflow around a Safe, not a flaw in the Safe contracts themselves. The contracts did exactly what the signers approved.
