Not enough gas, but I have plenty of tokens

The wallet refuses to send, saying you have insufficient funds, while showing a healthy token balance.

What is actually happening

Fees are always paid in the chain’s native coin, never in the token you are moving. USDC on Ethereum needs ETH. Anything on Cronos needs CRO. Anything on BNB Chain needs BNB.

How to fix it

  1. Identify the native coin for the chain you are on.
  2. Send a small amount of it to the same address, from an exchange or another wallet.
  3. Wait for it to arrive, then retry.
Keep a small float of the native coin on every chain you use. Being stranded with valuable tokens and no gas is a genuinely common and very annoying position.
