Swissquote is a Swiss online bank and broker founded in 1996 and headquartered in Gland, Switzerland, with its parent group publicly listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. Unlike most CFD-focused brokers it is a fully licensed bank (FINMA) operating a network of separately regulated entities across the UK (FCA), UAE (DFSA), Hong Kong (SFC), Singapore (MAS), Luxembourg (CSSF), Malta (MFSA), Cyprus (CySEC) and South Africa (FSCA), making it one of the more heavily regulated names in the industry.
Its product range is unusually deep: alongside forex and CFDs on indices, commodities and stocks, Swissquote offers genuine investing (real shares, ETFs, bonds, options and futures held in a bank account) plus real spot cryptocurrency trading rather than crypto CFDs alone. Traders can use MT4, MT5, an integrated TradingView experience and Swissquote's proprietary Advanced Trader platform, so Market Structure Pro can be used here; cTrader is not supported.
The main trade-offs are cost and accessibility. Minimum deposits are relatively high (around $1,000 for forex), spreads and fees run toward the premium end, and average spreads are not published. It best suits well-capitalised traders and investors who prioritise regulatory safety, banking-grade security and access to real assets over rock-bottom pricing. US retail clients are not served.
A separate reputation score out of 100, based on genuine user reviews across the web and kept independent of the feature score above. Our read: reviews look genuine.
Swissquote is a FINMA-regulated Swiss bank whose parent has been listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange since 2000, giving it strong institutional standing. Independent reviewers rate it highly (BrokerChooser 4.5/5, ForexBrokers.com 4.5/5, WikiFX 7.13/10), while its Trustpilot 3.5/5 across ~4,000 reviews reflects the usual complaint bias big financial firms attract rather than any systemic problem. No regulator fines, scam allegations, or fake-review patterns found.
