Full review

IC Markets is a Sydney-based forex and CFD broker founded in 2007 that has grown into one of the largest retail brokers by trading volume. It suits active, cost-sensitive and algorithmic traders: True ECN Raw Spread accounts offer spreads from 0.0 pips with low commissions (about $6-7 round turn per lot), and it supports MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, making it a leading choice for automated and copy trading. MT5 is confirmed available today.

On regulation, IC Markets operates several entities including Tier-1 ASIC (Australia) and CySEC (Cyprus), plus offshore licenses via Seychelles FSA, Bahamas SCB and Kenya's CMA. EU clients get up to EUR 20,000 investor-compensation coverage. As with most global brokers, the onboarding entity determines leverage and protection, and the offshore entities carry weaker safeguards.

Costs are a core strength: minimum deposit $200, Standard EUR/USD spreads typically ~0.8 pips (commission-free), Raw accounts charging commission on near-zero spreads. It covers roughly 3,500 instruments and offers a demo, 24/7 support and an active partner program. Main drawbacks are the lack of a proprietary platform, limited share trading, thin research, and jurisdictional restrictions (no US clients, no crypto CFDs for UK retail).

Reputation & reviews

IC Markets carries an unusually high Trustpilot score (~4.8/5 across 46,000+ reviews), so far above other platforms that heavy review solicitation is plausible; Forex Peace Army is far more tempered at ~3.55/5 (2,164 reviews) and Sitejabber is very negative (1.6/5) on tiny volume skewed to withdrawal complaints. WikiFX 9.1/10. Long-established and ASIC/CySEC regulated, but the gap between the glowing Trustpilot page and complaint-driven platforms, plus a CySEC fine, warrants a mixed read.
