Pros & cons

✓ Pros

  • Top-tier ASIC (Australia) regulation with client funds segregated at NAB
  • Genuine execution transparency - verifiable per-trade receipts naming the filling liquidity provider, slippage and speed (a rare standout)
  • Competitive Raw/ECN pricing: ~0.0 pip raw spreads with $7/lot round-turn commission
  • Now supports both MT4 and MT5, plus copy trading, FIX API and VPS
  • Low barrier to entry and a funded demo account

✗ Cons

  • Dual-entity structure: many international clients fall under the offshore VFSC (Vanuatu) entity, not ASIC
  • No cTrader, and no native TradingView trading yet (announced, not delivered)
  • Support is 24/5, not 24/7
  • Product range (~150 instruments) is narrower than larger global brokers
  • Some spread/fee figures (e.g. gold) are inconsistently published

Full review

Global Prime is an Australian forex and CFD broker founded in 2010 and headquartered in Melbourne (South Yarra). Its Australian business runs under FMGP Trading Group Pty Ltd, which holds a Tier-1 ASIC licence (AFSL 385620) with client money segregated at NAB, while non-Australian clients are generally served by an offshore Vanuatu entity (Gleneagle Securities Pty Ltd t/a Global Prime FX, VFSC #40256). As with many brokers, the protection a client receives depends on which entity they sign up under; the offshore VFSC arm offers far weaker safeguards. Note: Global Prime and Fusion Markets are sister brands sharing the same ASIC licence holder (FMGP Trading Group) and the same Vanuatu entity.

The broker's core identity is execution transparency: a No Dealing Desk ECN/STP model with automated 'proof of execution' trade receipts showing which liquidity provider filled each order, plus slippage, fill speed, spread and order-book data - a level of disclosure few retail brokers match. It offers a commission-free Standard account and a Raw/ECN account with near-zero spreads plus a $7 round-turn commission ($3.50/side) on forex and metals. Historically MT4-centric, it now offers MT5 as well (confirmed live), alongside copy trading, FIX API, Myfxbook AutoTrade and VPS; it does not offer cTrader or a proprietary platform, and native TradingView trading is 'coming soon'. Traders get ~150+ instruments across forex, indices, commodities, crypto CFDs, bonds and shares, a free demo, 24/5 support and roughly a dozen funding methods.

Verdict
✓ Trusted reviews

Global Prime is ASIC-regulated with broadly positive third-party reputation: Trustpilot 'Excellent' 4.6/5 and BrokerChooser 4.1/5, consistent with its reputation for execution transparency (verifiable trade receipts). Low Sitejabber (1.5/5) reflects a small 14-review complaint-skewed sample, not a systemic fraud pattern; Trustpilot stream is weighted toward solicited praise (mild inflation signal). No verifiable regulator warnings or fines.
