Pros & cons

✓ Pros

  • Very low entry barrier: minimum deposit from $5 and a Cent account suited to beginners
  • Offers both MT4 and MT5 plus a proprietary FBS Trader mobile/web app
  • Commission-free Standard/Cent accounts with competitive floating spreads (from ~0.7 pips); ECN account for tighter spreads
  • No deposit or withdrawal fees; wide funding range and 24/7 multilingual support
  • Holds a CySEC (EU) license alongside ASIC and FSC entities, plus negative balance protection

✗ Cons

  • Offshore-heavy: most retail clients onboarded under FSC Belize, offering weaker protection than CySEC/ASIC
  • Extremely high maximum leverage (up to 1:3000 offshore) is risky, especially for beginners
  • Not available in the US, UK, Canada and some other jurisdictions
  • Experienced a 2021 data-exposure incident (unsecured server) reported by security researchers
  • CFD/forex-centric; no real share ownership or long-term investing options

Full review

FBS is a globally oriented forex and CFD broker founded in 2009 and headquartered in Belize City, Belize. It serves retail traders across 100+ countries and best suits beginners and cost-sensitive active traders drawn by a very low $5 minimum deposit, a Cent account for small-size practice, and high leverage. Its offering is CFD- and forex-focused rather than long-term investing.

On regulation, FBS operates multiple entities: FBS Markets Inc under the FSC in Belize, Tradestone Ltd under CySEC in Cyprus (331/17), and an ASIC-registered Australian arm. The CySEC and ASIC licenses provide meaningful oversight for EU/Australian clients, but most non-EU retail clients are handled by the lightly regulated Belize entity, so overall protection is offshore-heavy. FBS also had a 2021 data-exposure incident and is not available in the US, UK or Canada.

On costs and platforms, FBS currently offers MT5 alongside MT4 and its own FBS Trader app across desktop, web and mobile. Standard and Cent accounts are commission-free with floating spreads from about 0.7-0.8 pips on EUR/USD (typical/approximate), while an ECN account offers tighter spreads with a fixed commission around $6 per lot. It lists 550+ instruments spanning forex, metals, indices, energies, stock CFDs and crypto CFDs, with a demo account, no deposit/withdrawal fees, 24/7 support and an active IB/affiliate program.

Verdict
~ Mixed reviews

FBS earns steady mid-to-high marks (Trustpilot ~4.3/5; editorial 4.3-4.4/5) and confirms CySEC (331/17) and ASIC licensing, but its primary retail entity is offshore under FSC Belize and only EU clients get compensation-scheme protection, a real concern for the offshore accounts most global users hold. Reviews lean positive on fast withdrawals, but for an aggressively bonus-marketed offshore broker the high Trustpilot score should be read cautiously.
