Pros & cons

✓ Pros

  • Regulated by top-tier authorities (FCA, CySEC) with negative balance protection and segregated client funds
  • Broad platform choice: MT4, MT5, TradingView charts and the proprietary Admirals Platform
  • Very wide instrument range (8,000+) including forex, CFDs and real stocks/ETFs via Invest.MT5 accounts
  • Low entry barrier with $100 CFD minimum ($1 for Invest.MT5) and a free demo account
  • Strong educational content and market research resources

✗ Cons

  • Sold its Australian (ASIC-regulated) subsidiary to PU Prime in early 2025, so it is no longer ASIC-regulated
  • Does not accept US clients (not CFTC/NFA registered)
  • Support is 24/5 only, with no weekend coverage
  • Standard Trade account EUR/USD spreads (~0.7-0.9 pips) are only mid-tier versus the tightest ECN rivals
  • Inactivity fee applies after a period of dormancy; crypto CFD availability is restricted in some jurisdictions

Full review

Admirals, formerly Admiral Markets, is an Estonia-based multi-asset broker founded in 2001 and headquartered in Tallinn. It suits beginner-to-intermediate CFD traders and long-term investors who want a heavily regulated broker with a very broad product menu, from forex and CFDs to real shares and ETFs. Regulation is a strength: it is authorized by the FCA (UK), CySEC (Cyprus) and Estonia's EFSA, offers negative balance protection and segregated client funds, and holds several additional non-EU licenses. Note that it exited the Australian market in early 2025 (its ASIC entity was sold to and rebranded as PU Prime), and it does not accept US clients.

On costs, Admirals uses a two-model structure: spread-only Trade accounts (EUR/USD typically around 0.7-0.9 pips, gold around 0.3) and commission-based Zero accounts with near-zero raw spreads plus roughly $1.80-$3.00 per lot per side, tiered by monthly volume. Pricing is competitive but not the absolute lowest in the market. Execution is no-dealing-desk / STP style rather than marketed true ECN.

Platform coverage is a clear highlight. Clients can trade on MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 (confirmed available today, with MT5 the primary account line via Trade.MT5, Zero.MT5 and Invest.MT5), plus TradingView-powered charts inside the proprietary Admirals Platform, a WebTrader and mobile apps. Funding is via card, bank transfer and e-wallets (PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Trustly), a demo account is available, and customer support runs 24/5.
